Quarter States Collection - The George Washington quarter illustrated by Weareblackeyes x Fishcakeclub
The U.S. quarter was first minted in silver in 1796 as one-fourth of a dollar. In 1932, George Washington’s profile was added to celebrate his 200th birthday, and by 1965, the material changed from silver to a cheaper copper-nickel alloy. Since 1999, the U.S. Mint has launched famous commemorative series, like the 50 State Quarters, turning the coin into a popular collectible.
